About TENJIN west street

About us

Following IMAIZUMI main branch, our second location, “MOTSUNABE ICHIFUJI TENJIN west street,” opened in Daimyo, the heart of Tenjin.

We wanted more people in our home turf of Hakata to know Ichifuji’s flavor, and we wanted guests who travel from outside the prefecture just to try Ichifuji to be sure to taste our motsunabe before they leave.
With that spirit, the story of TENJIN west street began in Daimyo, the very center of Fukuoka.

The Ichifuji concept — the “true way of motsunabe” recognized by the local community — is the same at TENJIN west street.
That said, because the location differs from IMAIZUMI main branch, guests come to visit for all kinds of reasons.
We offer a wide variety of private rooms suited to dates, family gatherings, banquets, and more.
It’s a warm, relaxing, grown-up space where you can feel the natural warmth of wood.

The interior has a chic “Japanese modern” feel, and since the area draws a lot of young guests, the atmosphere is lively and welcoming, making it easy for first-time visitors to come in.
Like IMAIZUMI main branch, it’s just a 5-minute walk from the station, and that easy access is one of the reasons TENJIN west street is so popular.

A wide range of drinks and à la carte dishes aimed at younger guests is another hallmark of TENJIN west street, and turning guest feedback into action is the restaurant’s motto.
Among these values, Ichifuji’s own definition of hospitality —[Providing heartfelt hospitality, warm and considerate service, and the highest quality, we notice what our guests are looking for, think it through, act on it, and earn a genuine “thank you” from every guest]— is put into practice by our part-time staff, who lead the way in living it out.

In November 2018, we expanded onto the 3rd floor of the same building, opening “MOTSUNABE ICHIFUJI TENJIN west street/Bettei,” and the restaurant now operates across two floors.
With this expansion into the Bettei floor, where every seat is a private room, we’re now able to offer an even more refined space than the 2nd floor.
The private rooms can accommodate everything from small groups to large parties, allowing us to meet a wide range of guest requests.

  • ・Large company banquets (around 60 guests)
  • ・Class reunions (around 10 guests)
  • ・Guests dining with children

Because every space is a private room, you can relax and enjoy your visit with complete peace of mind.

*Full-restaurant buyouts may also be possible depending on the date and details, so please feel free to inquire.

We offer three types of MOTSUNABE: “Miso,” “Soy sauce,” and “Ponzu.”

Our Commitment to Miso

We use our original blend miso, carefully strained by hand one batch at a time.
This creates a rich, deep miso soup unlike any other.
For the garlic that’s essential to the soup, we use grated garlic from Aomori Prefecture, chosen for how well it pairs with the miso.
This grated garlic creates the irresistible aroma of our miso MOTSUNABE that keeps guests coming back for more.

Our Commitment to Soy Sauce

We simmer kombu dashi that has been steeped overnight, then add bonito flakes to draw out a rich, savory stock.
For the soy sauce hot pot, domestic garlic is sliced rather than grated, giving the soup a rounder aroma and a smooth finish.
